Modern Home Transformation: Skokie, IL
The Design Goal: Breaking Down Barriers
The primary objective for this Skokie residence was to eliminate the small, dark, and compartmentalized rooms typical of its original era. The homeowners desired a lifestyle-centric home that felt expansive and connected.
The main focus was on removing the structural walls separating the kitchen from the living and dining rooms to create a true open-concept hub, finished with modern materials that provide a timeless, sophisticated feel.
The Solution: A Seamless Transitional Overhaul
Maya Construction Group, led by owners Udi Yeger and Ofer Gliksman, executed a full interior build-out that prioritized light and flow.
We replaced the old dark oak kitchen with a sprawling “tuxedo” style design, featuring crisp white perimeter shaker cabinets and a deep espresso-toned central island.
By installing consistent wide-plank hardwood floors throughout the entire main level and integrating a consistent palette of soft grays and bright whites, we successfully unified the living, dining, and cooking zones into one cohesive masterpiece.
